USS Russell crew recorded multiple "pyramid"-shaped objects on night-vision optics during operations off Catalina Island. The footage was leaked in 2021 and subsequently confirmed authentic by the Pentagon. AARO's 2024 review noted the imagery was consistent with bokeh effect on out-of-focus aircraft lights, but the case is still officially classified as a UAP encounter.
