An F-22 Raptor under NORAD command shot down a small cylindrical unidentified object over central Yukon territory. The object was reportedly the size of a small car and was never definitively identified or recovered. Officials later suggested it was likely a private hobbyist balloon. A Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon was tracked across the continental U.S. before being shot down by an F-22 Raptor with an AIM-9X Sidewinder over the Atlantic Ocean. USS Russell crew recorded multiple "pyramid"-shaped objects on night-vision optics during operations off Catalina Island. The footage was leaked in 2021 and subsequently confirmed authentic by the Pentagon. AARO's 2024 review noted the imagery was consistent with bokeh effect on out-of-focus aircraft lights, but the case is still officially classified as a UAP encounter. F/A-18F Super Hornet flight crew recorded a small object moving against the wind over Atlantic waters off the U.S. East Coast on FLIR ATFLIR pod. Released by the To The Stars Academy in 2018 and authenticated by the Pentagon in 2020. Apparent low altitude and high speed remain unexplained by AARO. Source: DoD release (April 27, 2020).

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection DHC-8 Dash 8 aircraft recorded an unidentified spherical object on FLIR thermal imager. The object entered the ocean briefly, then re-emerged and continued flight at low altitude near Rafael Hernández Airport. Dozens of Erath County, TX residents — including a police officer, a pilot, and a constable — reported a large silent object with bright lights and military F-16s in pursuit over multiple nights. United Airlines ramp workers, mechanics, and at least one pilot reported a grey disc-shaped object hovering motionless above Concourse C Gate C-17 at O'Hare International Airport. The object reportedly punched through the cloud deck on departure, leaving a circular hole. FAA initially declined comment; later attributed to weather. F/A-18F WSO Chad Underwood recorded the original FLIR1 video of the USS Nimitz tic-tac encounter from a follow-on flight that intercepted the object near a designated CAP point ("the cap"). Commander David Fravor and Lt. Cmdr. Jim Slaight, flying F/A-18F Super Hornets from USS Nimitz, intercepted a smooth white "tic-tac"-shaped object near San Clemente Island. The object responded to Fravor's approach with extreme acceleration. The encounter was tracked by USS Princeton's SPY-1 radar, recorded on FLIR1 video, and confirmed in 2017 by Pentagon as authentic. On the evening of March 13, 1997, thousands of witnesses across Arizona reported a V-formation of lights, with subsequent reports of a single large boomerang or triangular craft moving silently south from Nevada to the Mexico border. Then-Governor Fife Symington publicly mocked the event and twenty years later acknowledged he had personally witnessed an unidentified craft. USAF later attributed the second event to A-10 flares. During totality of the July 11, 1991 solar eclipse, hundreds of independent witnesses across Mexico City filmed a metallic disc-shaped object using consumer camcorders. Photographer "Patrick M." captured what became known as the Petit-Rechain photograph, depicting a triangular object with three white lights and a central red light. The photograph was studied by the Belgian Royal Military Academy. In 2011 the photographer admitted the original photo was fabricated, but it remains historically significant. Beginning Nov 29, 1989, hundreds of witnesses across Wallonia reported large silent triangular craft with three white lights and a central red light. Belgian Air Force F-16s engaged on March 30, 1990 with radar lock and gun camera. The Belgian government uniquely cooperated with civilian UFO research group SOBEPS and published all findings. Japan Air Lines flight 1628, a Boeing 747 cargo plane on the Reykjavik-Anchorage route, was followed for over 400 miles by two small craft and a larger "walnut-shaped" mothership-class object. Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum, and Colin Landrum reported observing a diamond-shaped craft emitting intense heat and flames near Huffman, TX, escorted by approximately 23 military helicopters. U.S. Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge reported observing a structured craft of unknown origin in Rendlesham Forest over two nights. Deputy Base Commander Lt. Col. Iranian Imperial Air Force F-4 Phantom interceptors scrambled to investigate a bright unidentified object over Tehran. Both fighters experienced electronic systems failure on approach. Logger Travis Walton reported being struck by a beam from a hovering disc-shaped craft while working with a crew in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker reported being approached by a glowing oval-shaped craft while fishing on the Pascagoula River. Sheriff Diamond recorded their accounts privately and described the men as visibly traumatized. The case received extensive contemporary investigation by Dr. J. Allen Hynek. A fireball was reported over six U.S. states and parts of Canada, with witnesses near Kecksburg, PA describing an acorn-shaped metallic object descending into woods. U.S. military cordoned the area and removed an object on a flatbed truck. NASA later cited a Soviet Kosmos 96 satellite reentry, which timing analysis disputes. Betty and Barney Hill, while driving home through the White Mountains, reported observing a large structured craft. Subsequent hypnotic recall sessions yielded what is widely cited as the first publicly-documented "abduction" account in U.S. UAP literature. Civilian pilot Kenneth Arnold reported nine crescent-shaped objects flying in formation past Mount Rainier at extraordinary speed while searching for a downed C-46.
